my own personal lens

I usually design for other people and their needs and I help them find their own style.  I love working in other styles.  It's never boring.  

This, however, is about my own personal style, my own personal lens.  People ask me all the time "What is your personal style?" I laugh because it is so different from most people's and it is a bit hard to explain. I am eclectic, artsy, boho, colorful and nostalgic.  I am obsessed with the forties!  I love the graphics and the colors of that era.  I love old things and I love the idea that these old things have a story all their own.  I would love to know all of the stories.

So, why heart and home candy?

It's because my home decor reminds me of candy with all the different colors and shapes and textures of candy! But heart candy is the stuff that fills my soul.  I believe everyone comes into this life with certain gifts and callings.  If your soul is ignited, you will find your calling.  Mine is multi-fold, helping people see beauty and helping people deal with grief and remove blocks that allow them to be their best selves and better souls.

Upcycling is taking an object and changing its use to something new, and not throwing it away.  In this case, I took an old ironing board that I found and use it as a console table.  It has my favorite 'forties green' legs!

Reclaiming is finding things that are older and not letting them be thrown out and into a landfill.  Giving them life again.

You can decorate on a shoestring by either using what you have in a different way or shop garage sales, free sites, flea markets, swap meets and antique fairs to find the things that speak to your emotions.

I love to travel and I would love to highlight artisans from all over the world.  I believe sharing beauty is a way to raise the vibration of humanity.  If someone sees something of beauty, either in nature, art, object, music, or writing, it makes them feel better and feel everything will be ok.  When they feel better, their vibrational energy level lifts and that spreads to the next person and raises that person's vibration. Finding regional art helps keep cultures and diversity alive and enriches everyone globally.
